Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield headed out to a midnight showing of “The Hunger Games,” where they had the awkward experience on watching themselves kiss on the IMAX screen in the preview for their movie “The Amazing Spider-Man.”

MTV News reports that the two arrived at the AMC Kips Bay theater in Midtown East at about 20 minutes until midnight and found two seats among the IMAX stadium seating. Garfield, who performed earlier in the night in “Death of a Salesman” on Broadway, wore a sweatshirt and Stone had on a white hat. The audience was, for the most part, too excited about the highly-anticipated movie to pay attention to the pair.

Lovebirds Stone and Garfield munched on popcorn as their “Spider-Man” trailer aired. MTV reports that Garfield in particularly seemed fidgety watching himself on screen as Peter Parker opposite Stone’s Gwen Stacy. While the pair reportedly got close on the set of the film, they didn’t begin dating until August, after Garfield had broken up with Shannon Woodward of the sitcom “Raising Hope.”

Just because they’re actors didn’t mean that the two stayed for the entirety of “The Hunger Games” credits. The

Andrew Garfield has been a familiar face around Hollywood since his debut in 2007′s “Boy A,” but 2012 is truly his year to shine. His only major film coming out is “The Amazing Spider-Man,” Sony’s reboot of the blockbuster superhero franchise. But it’s one of the most hotly anticipated films of the new year, and with the Spider-Man series riding on his small British shoulders, the role could make or break Garfield’s career. Judging by the knockout performances he’s had in the past few years in films like “The Social Network,” “Never Let Me Go” and Spike Jonze’s short “I’m Here,” we’re guessing Garfield’s star is only beginning to shine.

Jamie Bell: ‘Andrew Garfield is the right choice for Spider-Man’

Jamie Bell has no regrets about missing out on the chance to play Spider-Man – because he “never felt connected” to the web-spinning superhero.

The Billy Elliot star was tipped as the favourite to play Peter Parker in upcoming movie The Amazing Spider-Man but he lost the coveted role to fellow Brit Andrew Garfield.

Bell admits he “failed” at his screen-test, but he has no hard feelings about the casting decision.

When asked what superhero he would like to portray on the big screen, Bell tells GQ, “Considering I failed at the first one (superhero audition), I don’t know.

“I’ve never felt particularly connected to Peter Parker, (so) I felt like they made the right decision. I actually can’t wait to see the movie – I think it’s going to be great. My favourite superhero is obviously Batman because he’s the sexiest. But I can’t imagine myself as Batman.”

Andrew Garfield has climbed to the top to become the most buzzed-about star of 2011.

The Hollywood actor’s highly anticipated turn as Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man has put him in the top spot of the annual SFX Hot 50 poll, overtaking sci-fi veterans Ridley Scott and Peter Jackson, who took second and third place respectively

Joss Whedon – who is directing the forthcoming superhero fest The Avengers – is in fourth place, while The Dark Knight Rises filmmaker Christopher Nolan completes the top five.

Dave Bradley, SFX’s editor-in-chief said: “With people from some of Hollywood’s most anticipated films at the top of the list, the 2011 Hot 50 shows sci-fi and fantasy are bigger and more popular than ever before. Our Spidey-sense is telling us to expect great things from this year’s number one Andrew Garfield.”

The full Hot 50, which compiles the most buzzed-about stars in the sci-fi and fantasy universe, can be found in issue 215 of SFX, which is on sale now.
