Sony’s tentpole — the fifth version of the durable Marvel character — appeared headed for a Friday launch in the $33 million to $36 million range. That figure included $8.7 million in latenight showings Thursday, down 15% from the first Thursday night for Disney-Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”
“The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ looks likely to hold well on Saturday with $33 million to $34 million, thanks to strong tracking among younger moviegoers, with an add on of about $23 million on Sunday.
